27 August, Mumbai : As the mystery of Sonali Phogat’s death deepened, Sonali’s family drew parallels between her case and Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
“We do not want this case going like it did for Sushant Singh Rajpur’s death,” Kuldeep Phogat said.
“The family still believes he was killed. Rhea Chakraborty gave him drugs.. yet she is out now. The case hasn’t concluded yet. This case is not about drug possession or drug consumption. But about murder,” he said.
Kuldeep Phogat further said, “We demand that the killers of Sonali be hanged. If the case doesn’t prove that she was murdered, we will ask for a CBI probe and we also demand a narco test.”
SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT’S DEATH
The death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2020, stunned the country. His sudden demise and what happened after set off a political firestorm and threw the film industry into disarray.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his residence in Bandra, Mumbai in June 2020 at the age of 34. His death was earlier being probed as a murder but was later ruled a suicide by central agencies and medical experts.

The Supreme Court directed the CBI to carry out a probe in connection to his death. This was after the late actor’s father, KK Singh, filed an FIR against Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family members accusing her of abetment of suicide and siphoning off Rs 15 crore from the late actor’s account, among others.

After the CBI registered the FIR, a case was lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Rhea to look into the money-laundering angle. The NCB also stepped in after WhatsApp chats revealed that the actor was given drugs.
The NCB had filed a 12,000- page chargesheet against Rajput’s girlfriend and actor Rhea Chakraborty and 32 others, including her brother Showik and Agisilaos Demetriades, in March 2021.
The draft charges filed against Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik also include the procurement and payment of narcotics and illegal substances for deceased actor Rajput.
